I can’t think of a better way to wrap up our week on legacy, than to tell you about this amazing resource. I was first introduced to John G. Miller from QBQ at Beech Retreat. His keynote was my absolute favorite while I was there. He blessed us with some really great material at the conference. In fact, I didn’t even wait until I got home to begin digging into Parenting the QBQ Way, one of the books that he sent home with us. I had more than half of it read before my plane ever touched back on the ground.
QBQ is all about asking the question behind the question, and taking personal accountability. So what does that have to do with parenting? EVERYTHING! This book is changing the way my husband, and I are raising our children. Instead of always asking, why are they always doing this or that, we have started asking ourselves QBQ questions to see what we need to do to fix the situation.
Yes, children make mistakes and they need guidance along the way. More than that though, they need parents who are actively involved in their lives. They don’t need another best friend, or someone to take the back seat when it comes to their decisions and actions. They need someone who will not be passive in their lives. Our children, believe it or not are crying out for discipline and correction. They need parents who will take the time to be present in their lives.
I could sit here and list all the points the book has, but you really need to read this one for yourself. My amazing friends at QBQ.com have sent me 3 copies of Parenting the QBQ Way to give to 3 of my readers.
