Our School Room

We bought and moved into our very own house back in April, and I am finally finished with our school room (part playroom).
We went with a Dr. Seuss theme because I LOVE Dr. Seuss.
I have always had very neutral paint colors (since we have always been renters). When we started picking colors for the new house, it finally hit me that it was MINE! I didn’t have to get colors approved by anyone….so I went very color crazy. I love bright and fun colors.
So here it is:
The armoire keeps the TV and video games put away while not in use….which I love. The bottom part holds all of our board games that we use for family night.
All the cubby shelves hold the curriculum, manipulatives, and supplies…you name it, and it is probably in those shelves. The little baskets on the top shelf are where we keep the crayons, markers, and colored pencils.
Under the little window is the hope chest that my grandfather made me when I was first married. He recently passed away, and this is a piece that is so very dear to my heart. It houses the quilts and blankets that my Granny (we are celebrating her 104th birthday on Saturday) has made our family.
Our paints and other craft supplies are in the totes sitting on top of the chest.
This is more the “play” side of the room. The little red dresser is full of all the dress up clothes, and our keyboard sits on top. The “Lego” table was once a train table that the kids no longer played with. So, I painted it and now it is the perfect home to our HUGE Lego collection. It has two drawers on rollers that fit underneath.
The other corner is my oldest son’s art desk and supplies.
A Seuss room wouldn’t be complete without a quote. :)
Our fish, who keep having babies. We are seeing new little ones almost weekly. It is fun to watch them grow, but our tank is getting a bit full!
The bottom of this is home to the large collection of coloring books my kids have acquired.
This is our reading room. The plan is to get big poof chairs and get rid of the chairs that are in there now. You can see our animal wall for Expedition Earth and the letter board for All About Spelling.

Well that is it. I am so very thankful for the large space available for the kids in the new house.
